Democracy

Most often democracy has been confused for majoritarianism. Democratic principles include rule of law, viable and non-partisan public institutions, constitutionalism and the protection of civil, human and political rights of all. In a democracy authority or power is held in trust for the citizens and for the wellbeing of all.

Off course, many a times the ritual of elections every five years have been used as a justification for democracy in Zimbabwe. Elections are essential in a democracy but most crucially the conduct and management of those elections and even the conditions prevailing politically and economically would influence whether the will of the people is expressed through an electoral process.
