Masakhaneni Projects Trust believes that conflict within communities negates both material and spiritual development. It thus uses a dia-praxis approach to conflict transformation where the nexus between livelihoods and peace building is brought out. Masakhaneni uses livelihood projects such as resuscitation of gardens as a means towards community tolerance and cohesion.
All the livelihoods projects are aimed at bringing together women, men and youth from different political parties to work together towards a common goal. The overall objective on livelihoods is to contribute to conflict transformation, gender equality and active participation of youth and women in decision making processes thus effectively feeding into promoting sustainable peace. Livelihoods are also a way of building resilience in communities.
